Barbie was an iconic toy for me when I was little. She represented the ideal image of femininity to me, however unrealistic those were and she had the BEST clothes imaginable.
One of my Grandmother’s would knit me Barbie clothes and my other Grandmother owned a store that carried Barbie’s and Barbie clothes, so in my mind I had the world by a string with the best Barbie wardrobe in town.
This incredibly fun dress from Tuckernuck is just so representative of some of my old Barbie clothes I couldn’t pass up buying it. Unfortunately it sold out almost immediately I’m still on the hunt for another so I’ll keep you all posted.
I feel the reason the Barbie doll had such staying power was the extensive outfits and accessories which gave way to kids being able to role play with different types of careers and hobbies.
