Cindy’s Apple Crisp

Apples are in abundance in the autumn and fresh apples make the most delicious apple crisp. Apple crisp can be topped with ice cream (vanilla or salted caramel) or with whipped cream and caramel sauce as pictured. Any crisp variety of apple can be used such as Honeycrisp, Braeburn or Gala.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (or to taste)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 sticks butter, softened

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spray 9” X 13” baking pan with Pam.
    Wash, peel and core the apples. Cut into slices.
    Mix 1 cup of sugar and cinnamon. Add apples and mix well. Pour into baking pan.
    Mix remaining 1 cup of sugar with flour. Add softened butter. Mix well until the mixture looks crumbly. Pour over apple mixture.
    Bake for 45 – 60 minutes. The apple crisp is done when the top is browned and a fork easily pierces the apples.
    Optional Toppings:
    * Whipped cream
    * Ice cream
    * Caramel sauce
