Chocolate Sauce

This is the chocolate sauce my Mother made for us while we were growing up. We would put it on ice cream, spread it on graham crackers or just have a spoonful right from the jar, it’s that good.
I make it at Christmas time and give it as gifts as well.
This sauce keeps in the refrigerator for at least a month.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet)
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  • In a sauce pan on medium low heat melt together butter and chocolate chips.
Once those are melted add powdered sugar, evaporated milk, and vanilla. Stirring consistently~bring to a boil and cook for 8 minutes. Take it off the heat and let it cool. Place sauce in decorative jar to give as a gift or store in the refrigerator for you and your family.
    HAPPY EATING!!
