Chocolate Cherry Cake

This cake is my families all time favorite and it will be you families too.
My best friends family made this cake for everyone's birthday (there were 9 kids in her family) when they were all growing up. Her mother told me she got the recipe, that was originally called million dollar cake, from a contest that General Mills hosted long ago. It is so easy you will use it for all of the birthday celebrations you host from now on.

Ingredients

  • 1 box devils food cake
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 tsp almond extract

Frosting

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (any kind you prefer)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°
    Grease a bundt pan
Mix together all 4 ingredients in a mixer using the paddle attachment. Once mixed through transfer to the greased bundt pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Then let cool.

Frosting

  • Combine all the ingredients except the chocolate chips in a sauce pan and melt together. Once the mixture comes to a boil/boil for 1 minute then take the pan off the heat and add in the Milk Chocolate Chips and stir. The frosting will be runny but pour it over the cooled cake and then place cake in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
    HAPPY EATING!!
