HYROX: THE RACE FOR EVERYONE

This past Saturday, my husband and I competed in our second Hyrox event together in
Chicago. For me, it was my fifth time stepping onto that start line—and every single time, I’m
reminded why this race has such a special place in my heart.

What is a Hyrox race?

Imagine a fitness competition that combines running and functional
strength movements in one epic race. That’s Hyrox. The format is simple but challenging:

8 runs (1 km each)
8 functional workout stations (ski erg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps,
rowing, wall balls, and more)

You run a kilometer, hit a workout station, repeat—until you cross the finish line.

It’s standardized worldwide, so whether you race in Chicago or Berlin, the course is exactly the same. That means you can track your progress and set goals with every event. There is a standard division and a Pro division.

Why is Hyrox all the rage?

For me, it’s the perfect mix of endurance, strength, and mental grit. But beyond the physical challenge, the atmosphere is electric. The community is incredible—people cheer for strangers, celebrate every finish, and create an environment where everyone feels like an athlete.

The best part:

Hyrox is truly for everyone! You don’t need to be an elite athlete or a CrossFit pro. The movements are functional and accessible. There are divisions for individuals, doubles, and even relay teams. Weights vary by category, so you can choose what fits your level. If you can jog and push a sled, you can finish Hyrox.

I’ve done Hyrox five times: twice solo, once with a female partner, and twice with my husband.
Each experience was different, but all were unforgettable.

Racing alone taught me resilience.
Racing with a partner taught me teamwork.

Racing with my husband? That’s a whole new level of fun (and shared suffering!).
Thinking about signing up?

Here’s my advice:
*Subscribe to Hyrox so you get all the news!
*Start with basic running and functional strength training.
*Practice transitions—going from running to a station is harder than it looks.
*Don’t overthink it. Just sign up, show up, and soak in the atmosphere.

Hyrox isn’t just a race—it’s an experience. It’s a chance to push your limits, meet amazing
people, and prove to yourself that you’re capable of more than you think.
So, what do you say? Ready to join the Hyrox family? I promise, you won’t regret it!!
