Homemade Taco Seasoning/Comfort Food Recipe #2

A Kendall Oberto Recipe

Homemade Taco Seasoning

When my husband and I got together in our early 20s, we realized very early that any pre-packaged seasonings caused my Dearest tummy issues. We found in time that industrial additives like MSG were likely the culprit.
As such I decided I needed to find homemade alternatives to the standard packaged staples like taco seasoning, gravy mixes, etc. Tacos are a nearly weekly part of our family meal plan as they are quick and easy.
Regardless of protein (ground beef, chicken, turkey, shrimp), we use this standard seasoning. Based on the protein, we generally brown or sear, add a bit of stock (beef, or chicken…yes, I use chicken stock when I cook shrimp), then add about 3-4 tablespoons of this seasoning and reduce. I have included both a "single serving" which is good for about a pound of meat or a larger batch. I generally make this seasoning in bulk and keep it in a sealed jar or bottle and can use it for months.
For the record, my kids objected to giving away what they consider the family secret recipe (hysterical).
