Marinated Steak by Cindy Pascale

Try to think back to your first memories. How old were you?
My first memory is of being reprimanded for complaining about my dress. I was young, maybe 2 ½ – 3 and we were walking into church to have our family pictures taken. I was complaining that the lace on my dress was scratching me and the complaining did not land on supportive ears. This is the dress and it still looks like the lace could be uncomfortable around the arms/shoulders.
Now try to think of your first food memory. How old were you?
I have two food memories that are intertwined. If I think of one, I automatically get the other memory! I was probably 4 or 5, and my mom served her “famous beef roast”. She was so proud of it but I really did not like it. It was dry and overcooked. The other food memory is a much more pleasant memory. It was the first time I ate marinated steak. I loved it and wondered why mom would ever serve roast beef again when the marinated steak was so good! I mean, if we are going to eat beef, let it be marinated and tender and juicy!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp dried chopped onion
  • 4 steaks of your favorite cut

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
    Add steak
Marinate for at least 8 hours or overnight
Grill or cook steak until desired doneness
    HAPPY EATING!!
