Pecan Crescents

A Kendall Oberto Recipe

Pecan Crescents

These cookies have been made at Christmas time by the women on my mom's side of the family for generations and are my family's all time most requested cookies of the season.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 5 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp almond extract
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans/finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar for coating baked cookies

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°
Cream together the butter and powdered sugar. Add extracts and combine. Slowly add the flour just until just incorporated then add pecans. Using about 1 1/2 T of batter form crescents by rolling between your hands, rolling each end to a blunt point and leaving center thicker. Curve the dough to form crescents and place on sheet pans lined with parchment paper. Bake two trays for 9 minutes. Flip trays front to back and top to bottom. Continue to cook 7-9 more minutes until pointed ends of crescents and bottoms are golden brown.
Place cookies on cooling racks. Cool completely. Toss cooled cookies in powdered sugar flipping multiple times so they are generously coated. Serve or freeze.
    Happy Eating!!
