Pretty Rugged Gear was started by Tracy Slocum. She had always been involved in boating and on chilly mornings out on the water she felt she and her family needed warm blankets that were beautiful and water proof. Unable to find that product she made one.

She drew inspiration from her great-great-grandfather, Captain Joshua Slocum who wrapped himself in fur to withstand inclement weather when he was the first person to sail around the world alone in the late 1800s.

Tracy worked with top fashion consultants and came up with the world’s first luxe faux fur waterproof, windproof, washable RuggedTex fabric blanket. But the blanket wasn’t enough she expanded into jackets, capelets, shawls, scarfs, and vests.

I personally love myself a fabulous fur coat but I have to say this faux fur is exquisite and is so easy to travel with and looks like real fur!!

I styled this capelet with a monochromic look of all black with a pop of silver Mary-Jane shoes to bring the holidays to the outfit.
