Butterscotch Brownies

Recipe of the Day (#ROTD)

Made from the recipe in the Betty Crocker “Cooky Book”


I made this recipe with both of my Grandmothers and my Mother when I was young, its easy (and easy to double) and absolutely delicious.

1/4 cup of butter

1 cup light brown sugar

1 egg

3/4 cup flour

1t baking powder

1/2t vanilla

1/2 salt

1/2 cup of walnuts optional

Pre heat oven to 350°

Grease a 8x8x2 pan

Melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat; stir in sugar until blended; cool. Stir in egg. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt and add to the sugar, butter and egg mixture. Mix in vanilla and walnuts. Spread in the pan and bake for 25 minutes DO NOT OVER BAKE.
