Ooey Gooey Butter Bars

Recipe of the Day (#ROTD)

A Kendall Oberto Recipe

I received this recipe from one of my mom’s buddies.  I believe it originated with Paula Deen as “Ooey Gooey Butter Cake”.  These bars are super simple to make and are a sure hit.

Ingredients:

Crust

1 box butter cake mix

1 egg

1 stick butter (melted)

Filling

8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature

1 stick butter (melted)

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 pound box confectioners sugar

2 eggs

Directions:

Spray or butter 9×13 baking dish.  Create a parchment paper “sling” by lining dish with sized parchment paper which overlaps sides of pan then coat with additional butter.

Mix crust ingredients and pat into baking dish.

Beat the cream cheese in mixer, add butter, eggs,  powdered sugar add vanilla and beat until creamy.  Pour on top of crust.  Bake at 350 for 40-45 min until golden brown on top.

Cool for 30 minutes or so.  Lift bars out with sling and slice.

Happy Eating!!
