My Mother and Grandmother made this apple crisp, and I’ve been making this forever. It is incredibly simple to make- however, using the right apples is key to it turning out FABULOUS.
Ingredients
Apple Mixture
- 8 cooking apples, (haralson, cortland, Granny Smith, or Jonathon apples) sliced thin
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 tbsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp flour
Topping
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350°First, slice the apples into a bowl and sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon mixture then add flour and mix well. Transfer that mixture to a 8×12 glass baking dish.Second, place butter in another bowl and add all of the ingredients for the topping. With a pastry cutter, or two knives, mix the butter in with the sugars to make a course mixture that is well incorporated. Take spoonfuls of the topping mixture and drop them on top of the apples in the baking dish until all of the topping mixture is distributed on the apples.Bake the apple crisp for 45 minutes.Serve with just a drizzle of heavy cream or vanilla ice cream.HAPPY EATING!!
