To be honest the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is the sale that changed retail. At the end of every July and beginning of August Nordstrom discounts most of their brand-new items that they are rolling out for Fall!!
Most stores are putting their summer items on sale Nordstrom does the opposite. This sale started in the 1960’s, at the Flagship store in Seattle. The idea was simple, summer was always a slower season for retail, so instead of marking down merchandise they can’t sell, Nordstrom offer the customer something different: Fall merchandise at sale prices before the season began.

This bold concept turned into an annual tradition that retailers imitated. Nordstrom shoppers receive the Anniversary Sale catalog weeks ahead of the sale to scope out the sought after new Fall pieces they want to buy.

When the sale ends, the prices don’t keep dropping. They go back up to regular price. It isn’t about chasing bargains, it’s about buying thoughtfully. If you’ve been waiting for a beautiful tailored blazer, an investment coat, incredible boots, premium denim, or that dress you’ll wear for years, this is the moment to buy it.

That’s always been my approach to style. Buy fewer things. Choose pieces you truly love. Wear them often. Build a wardrobe that tells your story. The Nordstrom sale is not just a sale. Its opportunity to invest in a wardrobe you’ll still be excited to wear long after the price tags return to full price.

We don’t buy beautiful things to impress people. We buy beautiful things because they remind us to participate in our own lives.
