Christmas Morning Coffee Cake

This is a Christmas staple recipe from my beloved Aunt Nadine. She made it every Christmas morning as have I since she introduced it to me. Make it for your family or it also makes a great giveaway. Merry Christmas all!

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup pecans toasted and chopped
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup regular milk

Method
 

  1. Mix first 5 ingredients in a stand mixer and take out 3/4 cup for topping.
    To this reserved topping, add 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
    To the remainder of the topping starter, mix in the baking powder and soda then add the egg and remaining wet ingredients.
    Pour batter into 2-8" buttered cake pans. Cover with nut topping and bake at 325 for 40 minutes.
