Tator Tot Hot Dish #1 Comfort Food Recipe

A Ladonna Fallen Recipe

Tator Tot Hot Dish

I'm kicking off this little series of "comfort food" with a Minnesota favorite, Tator Tot Hot Dish. I didn't grow up with many hot dishes in fact, I believe my Mom only made one if at all.
So I went to my some of my great friends and ask what Hot Dish did they grew up eating and this was the number one Hot Dish recipe.
One of my good friends, and spectacular cooks, Ladonna Fallen gave me this recipe, I made it and my mind was changed forever on the Hot Dish.
Easy, delicious and perfect for a crowd or to bring to a neighbor or friend. It freezes well and is a hardy meal.

  • 1 1/2 lbs hamburger, browned and salted
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 bag frozen vegetables
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 bag tator tots

  • Pre heat oven to 350°
  • Brown the meat and lightly salt and pepper
  • Mix soups, milk and vegetables together
  • Layer beef on the bottom of a 9×13 pan.
  • Spread the soup mixture over the beef, then lightly season with salt and pepper
  • Add the bag of tator tots over those two mixtures and salt and pepper the tator tots as well.
  • Bake covered for 45 minutes/ Uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes. The turn on the broiler and broil for a few minutes until the tator tots turn golden brown.
    Happy Eating!!
