If there is a vibe that says “I’ve got places to be and I’m not afraid to get there,” it’s the outlaw brown jean outfit. This look blends rugged texture with soft silhouettes, creating a fearless, fashion-forward statement that works from city sidewalks to sun-kissed fields.

Let’s break down what makes this outfit so magnetic and how you can recreate it with pieces you already own.

I choose a new jean by the brand Oyrosy. The brown color of the jean is a warm brown tone that goes with just about any color top, so it is easy to style.

A fitted tank or t-shirt keeps the jean the main focus.

A scarf that adds a tactile pop but doesn’t steal the show from the jean.

I added a wide brim hat for the outlaw edge. It frames the face and adds instant chic. None of this outfit was a huge stretch for me to wear but it was different enough to be very stylish and rugged.

My ankle boots are from a HOB favorite brand, Ann Mashburn (former season). The boot is brown crocodile so the color blended with the jean but the texture was completely different so it flowed seamlessly.

Here are tips to dressing a bit out of the box:

1. Start with an item in your closet you already have, a jean, a different color jean, a hat, a different kind of scarf. Something you feel good wearing and comfortable wearing in a color that blends well with many other colors.
2. Add one statement piece at a time, scarf or hat. You don’t need to add both items at the same time. Ease into new looks gradually.
3. Stick to a warm palette with neutral tones so you feel grounded not loud.
4. When you try new fashion items or looks, don’t judge yourself or think “what would they think,” what matters is how much you like it.
5. Accessorize simply. If you aren’t use to wearing a hat don’t wear earrings with it. If you choose to wear a scarf and there is pattern on it, don’t wear earrings. if you choose to wear a tank top maybe add a bracelet or fun watch.
6. Keep things simple and slowly add things over time that you feel comfortable to wear. Always start small and add, that way the look is yours and you feel confident and cool not silly or awkward.
