There is a belief that getting dressed well has to be complicated. That you need a big event, a perfect plan, a full face of makeup, or somewhere very important to go before you put on something that makes you feel put together.

At The House of OBrien, we believe that ordinary days are exactly the days that deserve beauty. The school pickup, the lunch with a friend, the quick errand, the patio dinner, the walk through the neighborhood, the “I just need to feel like myself” kind of day.

That is why I love this outfit so much.

The Frank & Eileen white denim skirt is the anchor of the whole look. White denim always brings that crisp, fresh, spring-is-here feeling. It has structure, but it feels relaxed. It is polished without being precious.

I styled this white denim skirt with a simple green, light ruffled sleeve t-shirt, from Anthropologie. The ruffles are subtle and create a very feminine look to the white skirt. The green color is charming and very spring.

One thing to think about when you get dressed is your accessories make the outfit. I took a very plain white skirt, a green t-shirt, and added a wide lighter brown suede belt to off set and make those two colors pop. My Castáner espadrilles were just a shade darker than the skirt, yet the piping on the shoe was that same color as the belt, this made the skirt pop more and the shoes pop too.

Finally, I choose my accessories-a Louis Vuitton Never Full bag (White and grey check/Damier Azur) which gave the outfit little spark. My earrings, the same green as the t-shirt, are considered “statement” pieces, actually blended into the outfit, thus not taking anything away from the skirt and t-shirt.

So you see, getting dressed should not feel like pressure; it should feel like possibility. This outfit is a reminder that easy can still be elegant, simple can still feel special, and a little sunshine in what you wear can change the whole energy of your day.
