Sourdough Dinner Rolls

Once I started making these dinner rolls with my sourdough starter I never went back to store bought dinner rolls or frozen dinner rolls, you won't either. These are so delicious and not very hard to make.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 or 100g cup active sourdough starter
  • 3/4 or 180g cup warm water
  • 1/4 or 57g cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1/4 or 50g cup sugar
  • 1/2 or 3g tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 or 315g cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the active starter and warm water. Add the melted butter and whisk again.
Add sugar, salt, and flour to the bowl. Mix with a wooden spoon or Danish dough whisk, until you have a shaggy dough.
Dump the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead by hand until the dough is smooth.
Place the dough inside an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap or a bowl cover. Let rise over night (8-10 hours) or until the dough has doubled in size.
On a clean, lightly dusted with flour surface dump the dough out of the bowl and divide into 9 equal sections. Roll each section into a ball by dragging them against the surface to create tension.
Place each ball into an 8 inch oiled pan, cover, and let rise for another 2-3 HOURS or until they have doubled in size.
Uncover and bake the rolls at 350° for 30 minutes or until they turn light golden brown.
Remove from the oven, brush the tops with butter if desired, and let cool.
    HAPPY EATING!!
