The combination of mixing high and low fashion together has been one element of the way style myself for years. I started styling my wardrobe with Hi/Low fashion in college. A new fashion trend would come out and if I wasn’t crazy about it, but liked it, I would buy that trendy item at a lower end store so I wasn’t invested in a passing trend if it came and went quickly. I would then buy the classic, timeless, more expensive pieces, that I could wear forever, and pair the items together whenever possible. The rest is history.
The juxtaposition of a Hi/Low priced items creates visual interest and can make the overall outfit feel more unique.
This savvy approach to fashion has one main element…do you like it.
If you find a dress at Target, Old Navy, Kohls, or even Costco and YOU like it, that’s half the battle won. Second, you must try on the inexpensive item, in fact, bring several of the same size to the dressing room with you. You will find even if the item says it’s the same size it may fit you differently.
A Hi/Low outfit allows you to feel sophisticated without breaking the bank. It is a smart way to try out the trendy fashions and feeling luxurious by incorporating a higher quality items at the same time.
This savvy Fall Hi/Low outfit I started out by buying this darling dress from Target. The dress has pretty Fall colors and the fabric is lighter for the warmer Fall days. I paired the dress with the Perfect sandal from Sarah Flint, this timeless black strap sandal is excellently made with a design that will never go out of style. To finish the outfit I used bracelets and earrings also from Target’s brand A New Day.
